The Thanksgiving festivities began with a feast of turkey, pumpkin pie, ribs and more at Oakwood, Mega Kuningan, on November 21, with more than 100 friends of AmCham gathering for the curtain raiser to the golf tournament.
This is an annual chance for the golfers to get acquainted and talk strategy with their fellow players. However, not everyone at the networking evening were golfers, and the event also served as an opportunity to make new connections or catch up with old ones.
In addition, the networking event is a time when candidates for the AmCham board are introduced to the members and can make their pitches on the sidelines to voters. The elections are held online and at the annual general meeting in December.
Special recognition also goes to our generous Spotlight Sponsors for the evening, Allied Pickfords moving specialists and Oakwood Premier Cozmo Jakarta for the fabulous door prizes.
The celebration continued at the Jagorawi Golf & Country Club on November 23. A full house of 144 enthusiastic players gathered early in the morning to navigate the fairways and greens with varying degrees of success. This year, US Ambassador Joseph R Donovan had his first time playing golf with AmCham. Together with Brian Arnold, President of AmCham Indonesia, Ambassador Donovan officially swung the smoke ball into the air to open the tournament.
Before tucking into the traditional turkey lunch provided by our sponsor, the JS Luwansa Hotel, the players had a good game under a clear sky. But the sunshine went away just after the tournament finished and the venue was scattered with heavy rain, while golf maven Doug Slusher was master of ceremonies and conducted the lucky draw and announced the winning team.
Big congratulation to the foursome of the day: Putra Samiaji, Adrian Boltong, Syamsul Munir, and Ananda Purwoyuono; and Dieter Grosse from Mitraco Perkasa Surya who won the biggest door prize, a 55-inch Samsung Curve FullHDTV presented by the Korean Chamber of Commerce.
We also express our sincere gratitude to all of the tournament sponsors. The two events were a huge success, and would not have been possible without the generous support of more than 50 company sponsors. We especially appreciate the hard work of the AmCham staff and Golf Events Indonesia, the tournament organizer.
And last, but not least, we would like to thank all the guests who supported the events. We hope to see you again for Thanksgiving 2018.
