Dear AmCham and Initiative Members,
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AmCham Indonesia will host an in-person health mission: Making Indonesia Healthier: The Face of Reform, July 11-12, 2023 in Jakarta. The Mission will bring together government, healthcare professionals, and key industry players to discuss ways in which we can optimize reform, spur investment, and improve Indonesia’s health infrastructure through patient-driven innovation and quality services.
The initial chaos and crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic provided a powerful boost for reform of Indonesia’s health sector. As we enter the endemic phase of Covid-19, one good outcome has been a new vision of a Healthy Indonesia through the Omnibus Health Bill, now under consideration, which lays out an ambitious agenda on digital transformation, allowing foreign medical professionals to work in Indonesia and finding alternative health financing schemes. Prompted by such potentially sweeping changes, engagements between regulators, health experts, the private sector and other relevant healthcare providers are now greatly needed to ensure effective implementations of reforms going forward.
