If life hands you lemons, the old saying goes, make lemonade. The lemon in this case was AmCham’s traditional Thanksgiving golf tournament and networking night, which fell off the schedule this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And the lemonade? A virtual networking event on Zoom that gave candidates running for a seat on the AmCham Board of Governors a chance to make their pitch for votes and featured attendees telling us what they are thankful for.
In addition, we gave away real turkey dinners to the first 50 participants, courtesy of the JS Luwansa Hotel and Convention Center, and other great prizes including wine and MAP vouchers. The AmCham staff organized a fleet of GoJeks to deliver the meals to participants, many of whom sampled the fare during the event.
The Grand Prize of the evening was a brand new HP EliteBook laptop provided by HP, a Platinum member, and networking sponsor. The AmCham Magic Wheel of Fortune landed on Jeti Muliawan from ASEAN Business Partners as she won the laptop.
What made the evening very special was the contributions of members, who paused to express thanks for the good things in their lives during the Year of the Pandemic. There was a lot of laughter and a Zoom room filled with appreciation for the AmCham community. Many thanks to all those who joined us.
