ICT Committee In-Person Meeting October 2022
October 07, 2022 | by AmCham Webmaster

AmCham’s ICT Committee stepped out of the virtual realm and into the real world as it held its first in-person meeting since the pandemic began, at the WeWork Revenue Tower on Oct 5. AmCham members from various tech companies, consulting and legal firms joined the lively conversation, mainly revolving around the newly passed Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law.

The meeting kicked off with a discussion of the Law, with participants sharing their respective knowledge of the Law itself, its implementing regulations, and the existing sectoral laws related to data protection. The committee agreed the devil is in the details, and AmCham needs to guide the forming of the implementing regulations so they are according to international best practices.

The meeting continued with a series of discussions on other issues in the pipeline, such as the implementation of mandatory private electronic system providers' (ESPs) registration, the upcoming regulations on public ESPs, protection of vital information, and the e-commerce ministerial regulation revision.
