AmCham Indonesia's Food and Agriculture Committee had an insightful discussion with Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) policy analysts Fitriah Setia Rini and Muhammad Djamaluddin on Aug 29.
The latest progress in government-to-government (G2G) cooperation, scope of cooperation, and other key provisions on halal requirements for imported products were the main focus of the discussion. Noting that the halal certification deadline for food and beverage products is next year, the committee deliberated at length on BPJPH’s initiatives in expediting its process to establish collaboration with foreign halal certification bodies and further smoothen the halal certification processes.
The session continued with discussions on future advocacy efforts on mandatory halal certification, the Commodity Balance (NK) system, and the planned excise duties on plastics and sugar sweetened beverages.
AmCham hopes to continue fostering good relations with BPJPH and monitoring key issues in the sector.
