AmCham Indonesia launched its new Energy Transition Committee with a kick-off meeting today, Nov 6. The committee aims to highlight the role of the private energy sector in Indonesia’s ongoing energy transition programs and act as a platform for discussions and advocacy regarding the energy transition to renewables, energy affordability, and energy security.
The committee is co-chaired by ExxonMobil Senior Vice President of Business Development Egon Van der Hoeven and Chevron Manager of Corporate Affairs Ferita Damayanti.
The meeting began with an engaging discussion on the state of the renewable energy legal landscape, progress on specific renewable energy sources such as solar power, the issuance of the Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) by the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JET-P) and its implications for coal-based energy. The committee also discussed the oil and gas industry, and the committee’s approach to government energy companies.
