(IN-PERSON) ICT & Financial Industry Committee Meeting Oct 3
October 04, 2023 | by AmCham Webmaster

The Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law’s implementing regulation was the main discussion topic during a joint meeting of AmCham’s ICT and Financial Industry committees at Grab Indonesia's Office on Oct 4.

Both tech and financial companies shared their concerns on the PDP Law draft implementing regulation, which was made public last month by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The most concerning provision was on the short response period given to companies in responding to data subject requests. One company gave a real-life example on how it handled a data breach issue. Other PDP issues mentioned were cross-border data transfers, audit requirements and sanctions.

Issues such as the e-commerce regulation, the omnibus Health Law, Government Regulation (PP) on Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) and the Law on Developing and Strengthening the Financial Sector (UU PPSK), were also brought to the table. Participants agreed to take action on important issues, and engage relevant stakeholders to give a better understanding of the tech industry’s best practices.
