AmCham Indonesia met with the Special Advisor on International Disability Rights at the US Department of State Sara Minkara on Sept 6 in Jakarta.
Minkara, who is championing disability inclusion rights, outlined her current priorities, including fostering accountability and building capacity, promoting disability-inclusive democracy, improving crisis handling in relation to disability rights and changing perceptions around disability. She was interested in hearing from AmCham members who have a strong track record in disability inclusion programs within corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, employment initiatives, or other related activities.
Attending AmCham companies expressing their desire to create better employment conditions for persons with disabilities. These companies also shared specific initiatives they had in-place to make a more inclusive work environment, including community programs that extend beyond the workplace.
AmCham appreciates Special Advisor Minkara’s visit and looks forward to offering further support in raising awareness and breaking down stereotypes on persons with disabilities. It is encouraging to see how AmCham member companies are taking meaningful steps to advance a more inclusive and equitable future.
