AmCham Indonesia’s Halal Working Group hosted the Halal Workshop 2026: Assessing Industry Readiness for Mandatory Halal Certification, bringing together policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives for a focused discussion on the implementation of Indonesia’s mandatory halal certification requirements ahead of the October 2026 deadline.
The workshop featured keynote remarks from Evita Manthovani, Expert Staff for Productivity Development and Economic Competitiveness at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. The panel discussion featured Heny Rusmiyati, Director of Halal Standardization at BPJPH; Siti Chasanah, Head of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Halal Industry Center, Ministry of Industry; and Muti Arintawati, President Director of LPPOM MUI. The discussion was moderated by Nani Hidayani, ASEAN Regulatory Affairs & Safety Director at Mead Johnson Nutrition.
The discussion covered key implementation issues, including certification readiness, supply chain challenges, raw material requirements, labeling considerations, business continuity, and coordination among relevant stakeholders. Participants also exchanged perspectives on practical challenges faced by industry and explored approaches to support effective implementation while minimizing potential operational disruptions.
