AmCham Indonesia hosted our very own B20 side event on Nov 11 on the theme of Sustainable Investment: Best Practices for Our FutureTheevening gathering at Bali’s world-class Museum Pasifika in Nusa Dua drew a crowd of nearly 200 people.

Numerous dignitaries attended and spoke at the event. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan gave a keynote address praising Indonesia’s drive for sustainable investment. Energy minister Arifin Tasrif discussed how Indonesia will realize its ambition to curb carbon emissions.

In addition, B20 Chairperson Shinta Kamdani welcomed the crowd and US Ambassador Sung Kim gave welcome remarks. Kadin Chair Arsjad Rasjid was in attendance. AmCham Vice Chair Doug Ramage greeted guests and served as host.

In his closing remarks, Arifin said the government continues to be committed to keeping the global average temperature rise to below 1.5 degrees Celsius in accordance with the 2015 Paris Agreement.

"If Indonesia only does business as usual and makes no changes to reduce the use of fossil fuels, we will produce 1.5 giga tons of CO2 in 2060," he said.

We are also grateful for the attendance of EU Ambassador Vincent Piket, Japan Ambassador Kanasugi Kenji, and Vietnam Ambassador Ta Van Thong.

AmCham Indonesia would like to thank all of our sponsors for making the event possible. To every one of you – Freeport Indonesia, MMS Group Indonesia, CarbonX, Sinarmas, Cargill, HSBC, Netflix, and ExxonMobil – we really could not have done it without you.

“This event was our way of demonstrating our full support for Indonesia’s exciting G20 year,” said AmCham Managing Director A Lin Neumann. “It was a great evening.”
