AmCham Indonesia, through its ICT Committee, convened a Copyright Law Revision Roundtable titled “Modern Copyright for Indonesia’s Digital Future” on Aug. 26, bringing together government and industry stakeholders to exchange views on the ongoing revision of Indonesia’s Copyright Law and the role of copyright in supporting Indonesia’s creative economy and digital transformation.
The discussion featured Agustini Rahayu, Senior Advisor for Intellectual Property and Digital Transformation at Ministry of Creative Economy; Said Mirza Pahlevi, Director of Artificial Intelligence and New Technology Ecosystem at Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs; and Wahyu Jati Pramanto, Senior Legal Analyst, Directorate of Copyright and Industrial Design at Ministry of Law.
Participants discussed the importance of a balanced copyright framework that protects creators’ rights while supporting innovation, investment, and the continued growth of Indonesia’s creative industries. The discussion also highlighted the importance of collaboration among government, industry, and stakeholders to ensure that copyright reform remains responsive to technological developments and economic opportunities.
